I don't think they will reuse the hats from last year. But anyways the yule cap was given out to districts where more people where in Dwayna's Circle at the time of Judgement, and Horns were given out when Grenth had more people in his Circle at the time of Judgement. Players worked it out so that Grenth had odd district and Dwayna even districts. But the hats most likely wont be the same this year.

Edit- Oh ya how it worked. Every three hours starting at midnight PST, Grenth would show up at the top of the hill, and Dwayna in the iddle of Lion's Arch around the tree where the Candy Cane Circle was. (The circle area that the Mad King appeared in). The two would then have a contest, trying to win over the favor of the players. They would hand out presents in their circle and people would try and grab them. After a few minutes there was a final vote and the hats given away, then a fireworks display went off. People then jumped to a lower district oppisite of their current (So if they had 2 they would go to say 61). This would let them get the hat of the other god. Hope that helps.

Very unlikely they will do Yule Caps/Horns of Grenth again, at least not identical is the Halloween event is any indication. The banner on the main site looks like she is wearing an elf hat, so I'd assume at least the Yule cap is different this time.

Like someone else said there is an area where dwayna stands and one where grenth stands. If more people are on dwaynas or grenths side depends on which "hat" you get. Dwayna gave the santa hat and grenth gave the horns but it will probably be different things this year. Or maybe just slight variations of the same thing.

I thought if you stood near Dwayna you got a hat and if you stood near Grenth you got horns. Tht was how I got my horns.

Dwayna or Grenth winning just meant more prizes or dying over and over again. Can't quite remember

Last year Dwayna winning was much more common than Grenth winning. I never did manage to get a set of antlers.

You might have to search through the active districts to find one where people are "willing" to let Grenth win so as to get his reward rather than the reward for Dwayna winning.

On a sort of related note, at the end of the Dragon Festival, some of us wanted to let the Fury win to see what happened rather than beating him yet again, so I started a thread on these boards and we publicised that International Dis 13 would be a "let the Fury Win" District. This worked well, and I might try a similar thing for letting Grenth win at the end of the Wintersday event if it is needed.

One last note, I think from your post that you are aware of it, but just to make sure you know that the hats/whatever will be customised for the person who gets them.

From http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Wintersday_2005

Quote:
On Wintersday (Dec 31), there was a competition between Dwayna and Grenth in Lion's Arch. An Avatar of Dwayna and an Avatar of Grenth appeared in each district; Dwayna's next to the Wintersday Tree and Grenth's near the Carolers of Grenth. Supporters of each would gather around the aforementioned avatars, and after a long speech and showering of gifts, they would be tallied. If Dwayna won, Yule Caps would be given to everyone present, the district would be lit with fireworks and gifts would appear around her for 15 minutes. If Grenth won, all those present would be given Horns of Grenth, fireworks would also begin, and murderous Grentches would run around, spawning some lethal presents as well as some legitimate gifts. Additionally, his supporters would be killed and bone horrors summoned from their cadavers. Only those who were present at the original tally would receive horns or a cap. These competitions took place at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, and 12am(PST in US, GMT in Europe). The international districts took place at 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm, 1am, 5am and 8am GMT.

To ensure people received the gifts that they wanted, players tried to designate the various districts as either 'Grenth supporting' or 'Dwayna supporting', the results varied, but this seemed to work for the most part.
